Our Mission

Our Mission: Together, we will make a difference for the children of our region faced with complex medical challenges, providing them with hope for a healthy future.

The Brody Borlaug Foundation was established in 2011 by Jeff and Tracy Borlaug in memory of their son, Brody, who died at the tender age of three from complications of primary immunodeficiency while preparing for a bone marrow transplant.

From the beginning, it has been the vision of the Brody Borlaug Foundation to provide the children of our region the opportunity for a healthy future by removing barriers: proper and early diagnosis and access to close-to-home, state-of-the-art immunological services. In partnership with OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, this vision became reality when the only Pediatric Immunology Program in the State of Oregon was established in August of 2019 with the hiring of Tyler Yates, M.D..

In honoring Brody’s legacy, The Brody Borlaug Foundation will continue to work closely with OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in building a world-class Pediatric Immunology Program, which will serve two purposes: (1) support and enhance the already noteworthy Pediatric Blood, Cancer and Bone Marrow Transplant Programs at the hospital and (2) offer on-site expertise to diagnose and care for children with life threatening diseases such as leukemia, metabolic disorders and pediatric immunodeficiency disorders.  With your continued support we can make a difference in the life of a child.
